A high surf advisory remains in effect for south-facing shores of the Big Island’s northern, eastern, southern and Kona coasts.
Wave heights of 6 to 8 feet are forecast through 6 a.m. Friday, according to Honolulu-based National Weather Service forecasters.
Forecasters cautioned that the public should expect strong breaking waves, shore break and longshore and rip currents that can make swimming difficult and dangerous. Oceangoers are urged to heed all advice given by ocean safety officials.
